At TrailChick.com, we recognize that privacy of your personal information is important and of course, by law I have to put this stuff on my website, yadda yadda. I’m a web technologist in my day job and I despise popup ads, modals, and stupid things that interrupt your experience and bug you to sign up, do something, or buy something. I guarantee I won’t ever put that crap on my website.
I do participate in affiliate marketing, but I’m super choosy about who I support: only companies whose gear I actually use and stand by and only companies who are actually doing good in the world. My affiliate ads don’t popup and you can ad-block them if you want. If you want to subscribe to my blog, you can find the signup form in my sidebar. Thank you! I don’t need to splash it in your face. I also don’t sell personal information to third parties.
Log files.
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files for analytics purposes. The information in the log files might include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit my site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited my site and which pages you visited throughout our site.
Cookies.
My third party affiliate marketing may serve content and advertisements and place cookies on visitors’ browsers.
You can choose to disable or selectively turn off my cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security.
TrailChick.com Terms
Trip reports, maps, and directions.
Outdoor adventures come with risk. Please do not assume any directions, GPS files, trail conditions, or access details provided on this site are 100% accurate or up to date. I do my best to share information and keep it updated, but as we all know, trails, conditions, and access change rapidly. If you get lost, aren’t adequately prepared, or can’t find where you want to go using information on this site, that’s your responsibility, not mine. I read others’ trip reports and directions but I rely completely on my own research, maps, and preparation to get me places. Have a question? Always happy to help!
Gear reviews.
If you find any gear reviews on my site, know that I’ve never been paid to do gear reviews and my reviews are 100% my own opinion. All of my gear has been purchased, tested, scuffed up, and loved by me. I have sometimes been able to get product samples for testing but it’s rare and if I do, I will fully disclose it. I only write gear reviews on stuff I actually use and love. I don’t rep products to become the next amazing Instagram influencer.
Advertising.
As mentioned earlier, I pretty much hate popup ads and I don’t sell advertising space on my site. I do; however, promote some of my affiliates, which are carefully curated and chosen by me, so read on for more details…
Affiliate marketing.
I put a lot of research and thought into the products I promote and the companies I support. I only promote those who strive to make the world a better place and are highly dedicated to environmental stewardship. The only “ads” you will see on my site are from selected companies that I’ve personally chosen because of their high standards and many are local to the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy connecting people to products made from companies who are making a difference and I only promote companies whose products I actually use.
I do participate in affiliate marketing, which means I can earn a small commission when products are purchased through the links on my website. There is no cost to you for this and hey, if I can pass on great gear recommendations from good companies, why not? If you like my website, consider making a purchase through my site. Believe me, I don’t get rich on this, but it does sometimes cover the cost of my web hosting or extra adventure treats for my pup. Hudson the Heeler thanks you! ?
Bottom line.
I’m just an independent gal doing fun outdoor stuff. I’m not affiliated with any gear companies or any trail organizations. I love to share my stories, recommend awesome gear that promotes good stuff, and do my best to inspire others to get out, explore, find a great adventure, dream big, and give back to this beautiful planet!
Thank you so much for your support. Happy trails!
