Resources

There are a lot of great resources here locally in Washington State that offer valuable information about trails, conditions, and safety!

NWHikers.net

A great online forum for asking questions, getting road conditions, and general trail chat. Really friendly helpful people.

Washington Trails Associations

The WTA maintains an encyclopedia of Washington State hikes, complete with recent trip reports, trail conditions, and other useful info. A great resource for finding where to go!

Northwest Avalanche Center

If you do ANY kind of winter sports, you should have this site bookmarked as it provides detailed avalanche conditions and reports.

King County Search and Rescue

You never know when these highly skilled volunteers might just save your life. Learn about the different units in the King County Search and Rescue Association and consider volunteering or donating to their cause.

Washington State Animal Response Team

I volunteer with WASART, a non-profit all-volunteer organization that helps companion animals and livestock out of immediate crisis and dangerous situations. We provide animal sheltering in times of crisis and help with scenarios like dogs over cliffs or horses who are down.

Leave No Trace 7 Principles

The Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics strives to educate all those who enjoy the outdoors about the nature of their recreational impacts, as well as techniques to prevent and minimize such impacts. Do you truly practice Leave No Trace Principles? If you don’t, you should because we owe it to ourselves to treat our planet right and leave it just the way it is for generations to come!
